Position: Electronic Resources Librarian

Summary:
The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for managing the electronic resources and digital collections within the library. This role entails overseeing the selection, acquisition, organization, and maintenance of electronic resources, ensuring their accessibility and usability for library patrons. The Electronic Resources Librarian collaborates with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to enhance the library's electronic resources, aligning them with the needs of the organization and its user community.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the electronic resources collection, including databases, e-journals, e-books, digital archives, and other digital materials.
2. Evaluate and select electronic resources based on their quality, relevance, and suitability for the library's user community.
3. Coordinate the acquisition and licensing processes for electronic resources, negotiating contracts and license agreements.
4. Collaborate with vendors, publishers, and content providers to ensure continuous access to electronic resources and resolve any access-related issues.
5. Develop and implement procedures and workflows for the cataloging, organization, and maintenance of electronic resources.
6. Ensure the accurate representation of electronic resources in the library's online catalog and other discovery tools.
7. Provide training and support to library staff and patrons in effectively utilizing electronic resources.
8. Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in electronic resources management and digital librarianship.
9. Engage in professional development activities, attend conferences, and participate in relevant professional organizations.
10. Collaborate with librarians, faculty, and other stakeholders to promote and integrate electronic resources into teaching, learning, and research activities.
11. Collaborate with the library's IT department to troubleshoot technical issues related to electronic resources.
12. Assess the usage and impact of electronic resources through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
13. Participate in the development and implementation of library policies and procedures related to electronic resources.
14. Stay updated on copyright and licensing issues associated with electronic resources and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
2. Proven experience in managing electronic resources in an academic or research library setting.
3. Strong understanding of electronic resources management principles, including acquisition, licensing, cataloging, and accessibility.
4. Familiarity with library systems, discovery tools, and integrated library systems (ILS).
5. Knowledge of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in electronic resources management and digital librarianship.
6. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including library staff, faculty, vendors, and publishers.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support library staff and patrons in utilizing electronic resources.
10. Proficiency in using library-related technologies and software applications.
11. Knowledge of copyright laws and licensing agreements related to electronic resources.
12. Commitment to professional development and staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
